Kids Christmas Gift Guide: Gifts You Should Buy Your Kids in 2023

If you can’t find the right Christmas gift for your kids, you aren’t alone. Many parents struggle during this time of the year, especially when there are so many gift options to choose from. Luckily, I’m here to help you with this task!

Whether you are looking for toys, games, electronics, or something else, my gift guide will have something for kids of every age! With my tips, you can take the hassle out of gift-giving and focus on celebrating the holidays with your family.

Gift Ideas For Infants:

Choosing gifts for your infant will be a little easier. Babies aren’t super picky about Christmas gifts. They’ll just be happy to get a new toy or item to interact with. So, for this age group, I suggest getting toys and items that are sensory-oriented. I have a few great gift ideas below!

1. Soothing Blanket

Soothing blankets are an ideal gift for infants. This product combines the comfort of a security blanket with a soft stuffed animal. Your baby can snuggle this blanket in the car, at home, or at a doctor's appointment. I like the Jellycat brand as they offer the best selection of soothing blankets and other stuffed animals. You can find their products on Amazon here.

2. Baby Mobile

Moms can find colorful and cute baby mobiles with a quick Google search. I highly recommend this as a Christmas gift, as your infant will have a blast looking at these moving objects while they lay down or investigate their crib.

3. Sensory Baby Rattles

Baby rattles are a classic toy that every infant will love. You can buy a simple baby rattle that is made of cloth and easy to clean. But there are more complex rattles that are electronic. These products sing, light up, and have other features for your infant. I found a list of unique baby rattles here that you should check out!

Gift Ideas For Toddlers:

Gifts for toddlers can be a little harder to buy. You want to give your kids something fun to play with but also encourage them to problem-solve and explore the world around them. I’ve got a few gifts that fit this criteria!

1. LeapFrog Interactive Books

While your toddler might not be able to read alone, leapfrog interactive books can get them started on this important skill. These interactive books are amazing and have plenty of pictures and sounds to go along with them. So, they will keep your toddler entertained for hours. Personally, I like the 100 Words book as it teaches basic words they really need to know.

2. Play Dough

Play dough is fun to squish and hold, but it can also help your toddler find their artistic and creative side. Since playdough kits come with lots of fun molds and colors your kids can make their very own creations. Rolling and holding play dough can help strengthen their hands and improve motor skills!

3. Animal Toy Set

Toy sets with your kids' favorite animals are another gift I recommend getting this Christmas. Your toddler can create their own fun world with dinosaurs, zoo animals, and other creatures they like.

4. Puzzles and Blocks

Finally, consider getting puzzles or blocks for your toddlers. This might not seem like the most exciting gift, but this is one of the best ways to get your kids to problem-solve. As they fit together pieces and try to make their own interesting patterns this will help improve their development and education. I found some great blocks and puzzles at this link!

Gift Ideas For School-Aged Kids:

School-aged kids have a wide variety of hobbies and interests. So, I’ve narrowed down my gift ideas to a few popular toys, games, and entertainment options that should work for your family this Christmas!

1. Squishmallows

Squishmallows come in all shapes, sizes, and textures! This present is a great way for your kids to start their own collection. If they already have squishmallows, I’m sure they will love adding a few more to their room!

2. Sensory Toys

If you want to find an inexpensive but exciting gift for Christmas, I highly recommend getting your kids a sensory toy. There are a lot of different options you can gift this year. Kids this age tend to like pop-its, slime, fidgets, and legos. You can do a little research online to see which toy is right for your kids!

3. Kid Friendly Video Games

These days, most kids have an interest in video games. You can find tons of kid-friendly games for school-aged kids. Personally, I think Nintendo has the best choices. Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, Nintendo Switch Sports, and Zelda could be great first-time games for your kids!

4. Art Kits and Project Kits

Getting your kids off their screens can be a challenge. That’s why it’s important to introduce more hands-on activities as well. Art kits, DIY kits, science kits, and other projects are Christmas gifts that can really entertain your whole family. You can have your kids making slime, science experiments, and tons of other creative projects!

Gift Ideas For Teens:

In this final section of the post, I’ll talk about Christmas gifts your teens actually want. Shopping for teenagers can be difficult, but with these gift ideas, you should be able to find something they love!

1. Tablet

Teens can be hard to please during Christmas. Finding a present that they think is cool will take some work. Luckily, I have some experience with this. This first gift suggestion is sure to be a hit. Tablets are great for older kids and especially for teens.

They can watch their favorite movies, load up their favorite books, and even get some schoolwork done on this device. There are tons of options available, but I suggest sticking with your price range. You can still get a good tablet for a reasonable price.

2. Nintendo Switch

If your teen already has a tablet, this next gift might be a better fit. The Nintendo Switch can get pricey, but your teen will be impressed by this handheld gaming system. They can bring this present on vacation, on car rides, and even to their friend's house. You can also buy some great accessories and games if you really want to splurge this year.

3. Gift Card or Cash

Sometimes, you might not know what to get your teen. If they already have the latest gadgets and are picky about presents, then a gift card might be your best bet. This might seem like a low-effort gift, but teens will really appreciate money or a gift card. You will be giving them the freedom to choose their own gift and shop wherever they want!

I suggest buying a gift card from their favorite store. You can also get them an Amazon gift card, a gift card to a streaming service, or cash.

4. Bluetooth Speaker

Teens will love playing their favorite music, podcasts, and other media on a Bluetooth speaker. You can purchase all kinds of wireless speakers online and in stores this Christmas. I recommend getting something that is durable, waterproof and sounds good. You can find some amazing deals and discounts on Amazon and other online stores.
